Hottest August Bank Holiday on record is here to stay!

Britons are flocking to the beach as the nation experiences its hottest Bank Holiday in over 50 years with temperatures soaring to 84F.

Thousands of sunworshippers are heading to coast at Bournemouth, Newquay and Lyme Regis, while others soak up the rays in our parks, as Britain sizzles on the hottest day of August so far.

Hot winds from Europe have brought a heatwave, with the south of England enjoying the best of the day’s sun.

The joint hottest temperature of 84F was recorded in Gravesend, Kent, and in Kew Gardens, south west London.

The north of England and Scotland will experience pleasant conditions with temperatures between 68-78F.

However, while the UK is enjoying beaming sunshine, after a fairly soggy summer so far, holidaymakers in Marbella and Madrid are not so lucky.

Those who travelled to the continent in search of sun have been met with grey skies and deserted beaches as showers drench the Spanish holiday hot spots.

While Brits abroad are experiencing miserable weather, forecasters believe that this bank holiday could be a record breaker in the UK.
