A Colorado man who claimed he was stabbed because of his ‘neo-Nazi haircut’ lied about the attack, police say.
Joshua Witt, 26, had called police earlier this month to report that he had been stabbed by an anti-fascist in Sheridan.
He posted photos of his injuries on Facebook saying he had been mistakenly identified as a neo-Nazi most likely because of his haircut.
Joshua Witt, 26, was arrested for false reporting on Monday after he told police in Sheridan, Colorado earlier this month that he had been stabbed by an anti-fascist
Witt told police he was getting out of his car when a black man came up to him as said: ‘Are you one of them neo-Nazis?’
He claimed the man then stabbed him in the hand with a small knife as he tried to defend himself.
Witt had claimed on social media that his haircut was to blame given he has no tattoos or anything that would suggest he is a neo-Nazi.
He claimed the attack on him took place as neo-Nazi protests were taking place in Charlottesville, Virgina.
But following a two week investigation, police arrested Witt last week for false reporting.

Police had reviewed surveillance footage but failed to find any suspect fleeing the scene.
Witt was caught on camera leaving a nearby sporting goods store after buying a small knife.
He was re-questioned over the attack and later admitted to police that he had accidentally cut himself with the knife in his car.
Police said Witt also admitted to lying about the attack.
He was arrested and released on a summons for false reporting.
Witt wrote ‘Sooooooo apparently I look like a neo-nazi and got stabbed for it… luckily I put my hands up to stop it so he only stabbed my hand.’
Witt had posted photos of his car smeared in blood. Police say he later admitted to accidentally cutting himself with a small knife he had just bought
‘I’m just glad I have good reflexes and at least put my hands up cause the dude was aiming for my head.’
Witt had claimed he was on his way to get a milkshake and was about to get out of his car when the so-called attack took place.
‘Please keep in mind there was no conversation between me and this dude I was literally just getting out of my car.
‘The dude was swinging a small pocket knife over my car door, then he took off running and I was just sitting there in shock.
‘What the heck dude I have no tattoos that would indicate anything like that. There is nothing on the car that I am aware of that might suggest it. My head is not shaved.’
