Giant python removed by world’s calmest snake catcher

A giant 1.5 metre carpet python has been coaxed from the bathroom sky light of a Queensland couple’s home.

The huge reptile was soaking up some heat before being removed by a strangely calm Sunshine Coast professional snake catcher, Luke Huntley.

Video footage shared to Facebook shows Mr Huntley remaining exceptionally relaxed throughout the extraction, all while holding a casual conversation with one of the home’s occupants. 

The shocking video has been viewed more than 13,000 times since it was uploaded on Sunday.

‘Happy Sunday all! I was called to a home in Noosaville this morning to catch this cute 5 ft Carpet Python which had been sunning itself on the inside on the skylight,’ Mr Huntly wrote with the video.

‘Imagine having a shower or going to the loo and seeing that above your head!!!’

‘Lucky for me this little guy was in an awesome mood and was very accommodating by letting me gently coax him out by tickling his belly.’ 

He concludes the post with a proclamation of his enjoyment of the job: ‘What a fun catch,’ he says.

The snake is unsuccessful in its attempt to escape the grasp of Mr Huntly by slithering further into the roof.

And although it appears to remain remarkably placid throughout the procedure, it begins winding around Mr Huntly’s arm after being pulled from the roof.

The courageous catcher makes the wise decision to ‘bag him up’ before he has the chance to ‘lunch’ on his arm.

‘Look at that! Got a little carpet python there, so he’s hopefully not going to latch onto my arm,’ Mr Huntly said while standing calmly with the python in his hand.
