A food delivery worker who ended up riding through the Lincoln Tunnel was misled into the situation by his smartphone, according to Port Authority officials.

The 26-year-old Jersey City man was stoped by Port Authority police on the New Jersey side of the tunnel around 7.30pm Tuesday, WCBS New York reported. 

According to Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo, the man was taking a suggested route on his phone app when he entered the tunnel.

The Lincoln Tunnel prohibits its use to bicyclists. 

A Port Authority official said the worker provided proof for his claim but was never-the-less slapped with a summons for trespassing.  

No major traffic disruption occurred as a result of the incident.
