‘Oh dahling’! Duchess of Sussex uses Britishisms after spending two years in the UK, it is claimed

The Duchess of Sussex regularly says ‘oh dahling’ after picking up a number of British phrases during her two years in the UK, it has been claimed.

Sources working in the Duke and Duchess’s £11million mansion in Santa Barbara, California, said Meghan regularly uses certain very British words.

One told The Sun: ‘She has adopted certain phrases. She’s often heard saying “oh dahling”.’

The mansion’s staff members mimic Meghan’s new turns of phrase, but in a friendly way, it was claimed.

‘They do have a giggle about it and sometimes they do impressions of her but only in a light-hearted way,’ they added.

Meghan, 39, Harry, 35, and their 15-month-old son Archie moved into the mansion in Montecito six weeks ago.

It has nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a swimming pool and children’s play-ground.

Meghan and Harry’s home sits on 5.4 acres of land and immaculately clipped hedges border the estate’s stone-pillared entry gates.

Property listings say the home took nearly five years to build and includes a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, a gym with a stripper pole, game room, arcade, theater, wine cellar and five-car garage.

The entrance to the property opens onto a wide lane paved with hand-cut Santa Barbara Stone that leads through a grand archway of trees to the main residence, according to Zillow.

The estate has sweeping lawns, tiered rose gardens, tall Italian cypress trees, blooming lavender, century old olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage and a pool.

It also boasts a two-bedroom, two-bath guest house, perfect for Meghan’s mother Doria, who is acting as one-year-old Archie’s nanny. Doria has already been to the house, TMZ reports.

The home’s seller is thought to be Russian tycoon Sergey Grishin who bought the ‘palatial’ mansion for more than $25million in 2009 and had tried to sell the home for up to $34million before eventually accepting a loss.

Grishin is also the former owner of a different California estate – known as the Scarface mansion because it appeared in the 1983 Al Pacino movie – which sold for a similarly cut-price $12million in 2015.

Surrounded by lush green gardens and overlooking the sea, the home has been described as a ‘hidden paradise’.

One estate agent who spent an hour inside said it was ‘designed for someone who never wants to leave home’.

Brett Buschbom said: ‘I went through this house and an hour later I’m coming out like “wow”, the whole bottom floor felt like a resort with steam room, massage room, sauna, Jacuzzi, full bar, arcade and one of the most amazing wine cellars and that was just the basement.’

The Sussexes are said to have been living in the house for the last six weeks, after moving 90 miles along the coast from a mansion in Los Angeles where they were house guests.

Now they want to be Hollywood royalty! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘are pitching a top secret project to network execs and intend to serve as joint producers’

by Megan Sheets for DailyMail.com

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are quietly shopping a top secret project to network executives as they settle into their new life in Hollywood, a new report claims.

Sources tell Variety that the former royal couple began pitching their idea to ‘numerous’ media companies back in June, around the time that they purchased a sprawling estate in Santa Barbara.

Very few details are known about the project, including the concept behind it and whether it would be a TV series or some other format.

However, one source with knowledge of the idea said Harry and Meghan intend to serve as joint producers on the venture should it get picked up.

The insiders said that NBCUniversal was among the networks that heard the pitch.

They said that the couple held a meeting with the media giant’s top executives, including NBCUniversal Content Studios Chairman Bonnie Hammer, who has known Meghan since her days on Suits.

A friend of Meghan’s told Variety that she has no intention of acting in her project with Harry or in any other ventures.

Rumors of Harry and Meghan seeking to gain a foothold in Hollywood have run rampant ever since the couple announced their plans to quit as senior royals, seek financial independence and move to North America in January.

Meghan’s first post-Megxit job in showbiz was as a narrator of the Disney Plus docuseries Elephants, which came out in April.

The 39-year-old Los Angeles native nabbed the job after Harry bragged about her voice-over skills to Disney chairman Bob Iger at the London premiere of The Lion King live-action remake last summer.

Her fee for the project went entirely to the Elephants Without Borders charity – an organization dedicated to conserving wildlife and helps protect the animals from poaching.

Harry followed in her footsteps by appearing in a new Netflix documentary about about the Paralympic Games called Rising Phoenix. That film is set to air on August 26.

Last year Harry announced that he was partnering with Oprah Winfrey on on an Apple TV+ docuseries about mental health.

It’s unclear whether the couple pitched their secret project to Disney, Netflix or Apple TV+.

Shortly after the Duke and Duchess announced their intention to step back from royal duty, a senior Netflix executive said the streaming giant would like to work with them.

Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January that the streaming giant would like to work with Harry and Meghan, adding: ‘Who wouldn’t be interested? Yes, sure.’

The decision to work with Netflix is also a move reminiscent of former President Barack Obama and his lawyer wife Michelle.

In January, sources confirmed the couple had discussed their plans with the Obamas and wanted to mimic the way they had managed to build a successful, but dignified, life for themselves after the White House.

Since leaving the White House, the Obamas have earned a small fortune by selling rights to their autobiographies and setting up their own production company, which has bagged a lucrative deal with Netflix.

A source said: ‘They have found huge commercial success without actually looking like they are getting their hands dirty, to put it bluntly, and retaining their popularity.

‘In fact it is fair to say that their star has soared since leaving the White House, particularly Michelle’s, and this is something Meghan admires very, very much.’

After stepping down as senior royals, Meghan and Harry signed with New York-based Harry Walker Agency in June, which represents the Obamas and the Clintons.

Meghan has made several appearances as a speaker at various online summits, however it is understood that she did not receive payment for these engagements.

Experts estimate that the Sussexes stand to earn an impressive sum from public speaking however, with one agency estimating that the couple could rake in up to $500,000 each from a single appearance.

In February, a PR expert told DailyMail.com that the couple may have earned ‘up to $1 million’ between them to speak at a star-studded JP Morgan summit in Miami, insisting that the couple will be the ‘highest-paid speakers that exist on the corporate market’.

‘I would not be shocked if they earned in excess of $1 million,’ Ronn Torossian, CEO of New York-based firm 5W Public Relations, said of their JP Morgan engagement.

‘Over the year their earning power could be unlimited.’

Meanwhile, GDA Speakers, whose clients include Nicole Kidman and Diane Keaton, told TMZ that the Duke and Duchess will likely attract much higher fees than regular celebrities, even without their HRH titles.

The majority of big-name celebrities earn between $200,000 and $300,000 for a speaking engagement, however the agency estimates that Harry and Meghan could each earn close to double that amount thanks to their impressive global standing.

Finding Freedom co-author Omid Scobie also claimed the couple have big plans for the next few years, and are basing their working model on the Obamas.

He said their plans were ‘not too dissimilar’ from what the former president created after leaving the White House and setting up Higher Ground production company.

He pointed to the Obama’s multiyear production deal with Netflix to produce films and documentaries covering topics like race, class and civil rights.

Harry and Meghan’s public interests have been largely focused on social issues, environmental concerns and mental health – so it’s possible their project could be centered in those areas.

Although it is not known exactly how much the former president and first lady made off their Netflix deal, those who have signed onto similar agreements are set to make millions.

Shonda Rhimes, who created Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, signed a five-year deal with Netflix in 2017 that is estimated to be worth $150 million.

The following year, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy reportedly scored up to $300 million when he inked his own five-year deal with the streaming giant.

Palace sources hit back over ‘nonsense’ claims of Prince Charles’ ‘hot and cold’ relationship with sons William and Harry and say ‘nightmare’ 70th birthday photograph claims are ‘poppycock’

by James Robinson for MailOnline

Claims of a relationship breakdown between The Prince of Wales and his two sons have been dismissed as ‘complete nonsense’ by royal sources, according to reports.

Palace insiders have also hit back at ‘poppycock’ claims his 70th birthday photograph was a ‘nightmare’ to plan because of tensions within the family, reports the Daily Mirror.

It comes after Omid Scobie, the co-author of Harry and Meghan biography ‘Finding Freedom’, claimed the relationship between Prince Charles and his two sons was ‘hot and cold’.

In an interview with former Loose Women host, Kate Thornton, on subscription service True Royal TV, he said the relationship was difficult because Prince Charles was ‘not just their father, he’s also the future king and their boss – he’s the purse keeper’.

But today sources close to the Prince have dismissed the claims as ‘complete nonsense,’ reports the Mirror.

Prince Charles sends an emotional message to covid-stricken Victoria

Prince Charles has recorded a message for Victorians, describing his fondness for the Australian state as it battles the ‘pernicious and unpredictable’ coronavirus.

In a video posted to the Governor of Victoria’s YouTube page, the Prince of Wales expresses his heartbreak at the state’s plight.

‘No sooner were the dreadful summer bushfires over, then you find yourself grappling with this pernicious and unpredictable virus,’ he said.

‘I couldn’t imagine just how incredibly hard it must be for you all. Having had such early success in combating the virus, you now find yourselves in the midst of this second wave with all its heartbreaking consequences for so many people’s lives, livelihoods and businesses.’

They also hit back over Scobie’s claims regarding Prince Charles’ 70th birthday photograph, which featured the Cambridges and Sussexes alongside Charles and Camilla.

Reports had suggested it had been an ‘absolute nightmare’ to shoot because of the deteriorating relationship between Harry and William.

However, Scobie says that it was in fact the brothers’ relationship with their dad that was the issue.

In the interview on the True Royal TV show, The Royal Beat, the author said: ‘Someone close to Prince Charles [said] this was a headache to arrange.’

He also claimed Prince Charles ‘quietly supported’ Meghan Markle’s decision to take legal action against the Mail on Sunday.

The Duchess of Sussex is suing owners, Associated Newspapers, over an alleged breach of privacy relating to five articles which reproduced parts of a handwritten note she sent to her father Thomas Markle in 2018.

In the book, Finding Freedom, a source said: ‘Charles is extremely focused on his public image and there have been times Harry has felt that has taken precedence over everything else.’

Sources close to Charles have called the claims ‘wholly untrue’, the Mirror reports.

Among other claims made in Scobie’s interview with True Royal TV, to promote Finding Freedom, were that Princes William and Harry cut communication for two months after Megxit and still have barely any communication.

In the interview he claimed Prince William was furious at his younger brother over he and wife Meghan’s decision to go public with their plans to take a step back from royal life.

He claimed brothers stopped speaking around the time of the so-called Sandringham Summit in January.

The meeting, dubbed ‘unprecedented’ by royal watchers, saw the royal family come together to discuss Harry and Meghan’s plans to step down as full-time members.

The couple later released details of the plans online, which Scobie has claimed was one of the catalysts of the rift between the brothers.

On the communication, he said: ‘They hadn’t seen each other. That’s really going to take some time to heal.

‘I think the distance between the brothers grew wider and wider.

On Harry and Meghan’s road-map plans, he said: ‘I think really where it went wrong for Harry and Meghan and the Cambridges was that decision to go public with the road map to their new working model.’

Scobie claims William, a future king, was upset by the decision as he believed it had damaged the royal family’s reputation.

He also claims that Kate and Meghan don’t communicate personally and the relationship between them ‘never really progressed’.
