Shocking video has been released showing eleven passengers walking through an unattended metal detector at JFK.

Authorities tried to find eight of 11 people who passed through an unattended security checkpoint at New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport in February.

It happened at Terminal 5, said Joe Pentangelo, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman.

Transportation Security Administration officials in Terminal 5 left a security lane open and unmanned, allowing 11 people to walk through without being checked.

Authorities identified three of the travelers, who got onto a flight to California and were screened upon arrival there, Pentangelo says.

The eight others are believed to have boarded various flights.

TSA confirmed three passengers weren’t properly screened after they walked through a metal detector, setting off alarms.

It says all personal carry-on bags received the required screening.

The agency didn’t notify police until two hours after the security breach, said officials, who blamed the ‘belated notification by the US Transportation Security Administration’ for its inability to find the travelers before they boarded flights.

TSA officials say the agency was confident the incident ‘presents minimal risk to the aviation transportation system’ but it’s being reviewed.

The agency said it would ‘take appropriate action’ against the employees responsible once its investigation into the breach concluded.
