Within seconds, the gator flops down on the walking path right in front of the couple and their baby.

The family appeared excited about the encounter as they smiled for the camera while waiting for the alligator to move.

Several minutes later the gator decided it had enough of lounging about along the path. It rose to its feet and slowly walked onto the other side and into the brush.

The man, who recorded the video, is heard saying in the background: ‘Alright he’s moving. Don’t go towards him.’

Lakeland came in at number seven on Florida’s list of cities with the highest nuisance alligator removals in the state for 2016.

Last year, 123 alligators were removed from the area, so a casual spotting of one is not that unusual.
