Boy, 6, injured after his brother, 4, tried to drive them

  • Police say a four-year-old boy took the car keys to drive to Chuck E. Cheese’s with his six-year-old brother, Markeon Reese-Parker
  • The younger boy put the car into reverse and Markeon fell out and became pinned between front wheel and the axle
  • Rescue crews lifted the car and rushed the boy to the hospital where he is in critical condition 
  • Their aunt said he is improving and that his family hopes to take him home soon 

A six-year-old boy was hospitalized in Pennsylvania after he became pinned underneath a car his four-year-old brother attempted to drive to Chuck E. Cheese’s, police say.

Pittsburgh police said that the younger boy wanted to go to the entertainment center on Sunday so he grabbed the car keys and got into the family’s vehicle with his six-year-old brother, Markeon Reese-Parker, WPXI reported. 

The young child put the car into reverse, but the six-year-old boy fell out of the car and became pinned between the front wheel and the axle on the passenger side of the vehicle in Hazelwood on Johnston Avenue.

Rescue crews arrived to the scene and had to take the tire off the car before lifting it to save the child.  

‘It was horrible seeing him like that,’ Parker’s aunt said told WPXI.

She said it took emergency officials roughly 25 minutes to free her nephew, who surprisingly wasn’t crying.  

‘He wasn’t screaming or nothing. He was out of it.’

His aunt said that he is doing ‘much better’ and that the family is grateful to those who helped out. 

‘Thank you. They did a wonderful job. When he got to the hospital he was in critical, now he is just improving,’ his aunt told WPXI.

The six-year-old boy had surgery on his eye on Monday and his family hopes to take him home soon. 

It’s unclear who was supervising the children at the time of the incident of if anyone faces any charges.
