Sophie Ellis-Bextor was left red-faced on Monday night after her son Jesse, five, crashed her BBC interview.

The Groovejet hitmaker, 41, was on BBC London to talk about her Kitchen Discos during lockdown and how music has helped her during the pandemic.

Yet Sophie was soon interrupted by Jesse who ran into the room to talk about marmalade and tell her that brother Ray, eight, had called him ‘trash’.

The star was left in hysterics as she tried to usher the five-year-old away as he shouted: ‘Mummy, mummy!’

Yet despite telling Jesse to tell her later, the youngster came onto the camera and revealed: ‘I was saying marmalade is trash, I said it to Ray.’

With Sophie interrupting: ‘Jesse, not now. Not now!’ 

Yet Jesse continued: ‘I said it to Ray and Ray said: “So are you” and that means I’m trash too.’
