The FBI believes Iran was behind a website which incited violence against officials who discredited election fraud allegations by team Trump, sources said Tuesday.

FBI Director Christopher Wray and former head of DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Chris Krebs were two of those singled out as ‘traitors’ on the website.

Their pictures and addresses were posted to the ‘Enemies of the People’ site with targets placed over images. Others say they have received death threats.

The FBI is set to announce Iran’s role Wednesday, The Washington Post reports. They have not commented on Tuesday’s report.

Confirming Iran’s involvement in the no longer active site, a source told the paper: ‘We have known since day one that foreign actors seek to undermine trust in the United States’ elections process.

‘President Trump has perpetuated a false narrative that has allowed this type of foreign attack to penetrate the minds of American citizens.

Those targeted by the Enemies of the People site had disputed the Trump campaign’s claims of widespread election fraud.

The website wrongly stated: ‘The following individuals have aided and abetted the fraudulent election against Trump.’

A hit list drawn up by the site was shared with the hashtags #remembertheirfaces and #NoQuarterForTraitors.

Some of those targeted are said to have been told by the FBI that the bureau is ‘in possession of highly credible information indicating Iranian advanced persistent threat actors were almost certainly responsible for the creation of a website, called ‘Enemies of the People’ containing death threats aimed at U.S. election officials in mid-December 2020′.

Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, his wife and his voting systems manager, Gabriel Sterling, have received death threats.

At one stage the target list included the governors of Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada and Michigan.

Krebs, who was fired by Trump last month, first alerted the public to the site on December 9 when he said a site ‘called ‘enemies of the people’ [is] proposing the assassination of various Republican and Democratic leaders who they falsely claim are complicit in manipulating the 2020 presidential campaign.’

The website said of Krebs that ‘Trump was right to fire him and should have done so sooner.’ It added: ‘He is part of the plot to fraudulently elect Biden. Even Trump’s own lawyer said he should be executed.’

Krebs sued Trump lawyer Joe diGenova for defamation for saying he should be ‘drawn and quartered.’ In addition to the ‘drawn and quartered’ remark, diGenova said Krebs should be ‘taken out at dawn and shot.’

Trump has made unsubstantiated claims of widespread electoral fraud and has been trying unsuccessfully to overturn the victory of Democrat Joe Biden.

His campaign has challenged the outcome in court in multiple states while also pressing state officials, lawmakers and governors to throw the results out and declare Trump the winner.
