Colorado woman finds wedding ring in toilet after 15 years

A Colorado woman’s wedding ring was found in a toilet 15 years after it was lost.

In 2002 Sheila Hatfield’s then three-year-old daughter Kiara picked up her ring from her nightstand early one morning and it was never seen again.

Hatfield and her husband Larry spent hours searching for the ring everywhere in their house in Broomfield, Colorado.

‘We stuck cameras down in the vents to see if it had fallen down,’ Sheila told Fox31 Denver.

Sheila said she even called psychics, but the green and gold diamond ring was nowhere to be found.

Kiara said she doesn’t remember taking the ring in the first place.

‘I was in tears for a lot of nights wondering where it could be,’ she said.

Fifteen years later on Labor Day the family was remodeling their home.

Kiara moved a toilet in the garage and the ring fell out, covered in calcium and hard water deposits.

‘I just looked down and I saw this old rusty washer covered in gunk and I’m like, ew,’ Sheila said.

Larry came over and asked what it was. ‘Do you know what this is? It’s my wedding ring,’ Sheila said.

After a thorough cleaning the ring is good as new.

‘I hope it was in the tank and not in the bottom,’ Sheila said, laughing.

The Hatfield’s have no clue how the ring ended up in the toilet, but they’re happy to have it back.

‘I now know I can find treasure absolutely anywhere,’ Sheila said.
