Catherine Tyldesley has revealed she’s considering adopting a baby with her husband Tom Pitfield.
The former Coronation Street star, 37, is already mother to five-year-old son Alfie, and has admitted that while she’s eager to have another child, giving birth may not be the most ideal option, given her schedule.
During a Q&A session with fans on Monday, the actress was asked when she plans on expanding her brood, promoting her to respond: ‘Sounds awful but I’m so busy at the moment.’
Expanding the brood: Catherine Tyldesley has revealed that she’s considering adopting a baby with her husband Tom Pitfield, because she’s currently too busy to have another one
She continued: ‘I’d like another as some point. I’ve always said I wanted two. Maybe adoption. So many children needing good homes.’
Back in January, former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Catherine had stated that she was keen to have another child with Tom when ‘the time feels right’.
When asked by Hello! magazine about having another child, she explained: ‘We would love to – at least one more. Absolutely, when the time feels right.’
Little Alfie supported his mum while she was on dance competition Strictly show last year, despite it meaning she has to spend time away from him.
Gushing: Catherine and her husband already share five-year-old son Alife, who she praised for being ‘very grown up’ and handling her being away from home for work ‘very well’
Admitting he ‘handles things very well’ because he grew up with her having to travel for work, she gushed: ‘He’s very grown up about it and he’s brilliant when I have to read my lines.
‘He does all the accents with me. He’s very theatrical. I was never going to push him down that road, but it just shines out of him.’
Earlier this month, Catherine admitted she would return to hit ITV soap Coronation Street if the opportunity arose.
During an appearance on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4, host Steph McGovern asked the ex-Corrie star whether she would ever go back to the cobbles.
Questions: During a Q&A session with fans on Monday, the actress was asked when she plans on expanding her brood, promoting her to share her response
Catherine said: ‘I’ve been a fan since I was a little girl. Of course, at some point… I’m really enjoying doing different projects and, touch wood, I’m really busy at the moment but Corrie is so close to my heart.’
The star, who played Eva Price on the show from June 2011 until August 2018, added: ‘If the opportunity came up in the future, absolutely.’
Speaking to The Sun about her departure at the time, she said: ‘Coronation Street has been a dream job for me which is why this was such a difficult decision to leave.
‘Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years, and who knows, one day she might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again. In the meantime I’m excited about the future, new acting projects, and spending time with my family.’
Catherine was appearing on Steph’s Packed Lunch to promote her self-penned play, The Ceremony, which is currently streaming online.
When the time feels right: Back in January, former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Catherine had stated that she was keen to have another child with Tom when ‘the time feels right’
She told Steph about the experience of writing it, saying: ‘It’s been brilliant, a great opportunity to raise money for the arts.
‘We’ve somehow managed to assemble the most incredible cast and a brilliant director. I feel like I’m on cloud nine at the moment. It’s so lovely.’
And asked what it has been like to go from actress to playwright, she replied: ‘Terrifying!’
She explained: ‘When I was giving people scripts, I was like “I think it’s funny… but maybe I’m just sat at home laughing at my own jokes.”
‘Luckily, they found it funny and luckily the audience who have watched it already have been finding it funny, they’re really enjoying it.’
