The WORST DRESSED celebrities of the year: Take a look at the fashion fails of 2020

While many Australians are eager to bid farewell to 2020 because of the bushfires and Covid-19 pandemic, several celebrities might want to forget the past 12 months for different reasons.

A host of stars tried their best to scrub up for the few red carpet events that actually took place this year, but some unfortunately found themselves on Daily Mail’s worst-dressed list.

Here are some of the biggest fashion fails and frock horrors seen this year, from the Melbourne Cup to the ARIA Awards.

The worst-dressed celebrities of the year: From Arabella Del Busso’s trashy mini dress at the Melbourne Cup (pictured) to Jessica Mauboy missing the mark at the ARIAs

Ex-NRL WAG Arabella Del Busso tried and failed to impress when she dressed up on Cup Day in November and when she attended the virtual Brownlow Medal ceremony in October.

On Cup day, the SAS Australia star wore what appeared to be a short version of Jennifer Lopez’s showstopping Versace dress, which she wore to the 42nd Grammy Awards in 2000.

But the imitation chosen by the 30-year-old ex-girlfriend of NRL star Josh Reynolds didn’t have quite the same impact, thanks to the combination of a slashed neckline and thigh-skimming hemline that looked more appropriate for a nightclub than the biggest day of spring racing.

It’s not clear which event the lingerie model was attending, if any.

Meanwhile Arabella again raised eyebrows when she attended the first-ever virtual Brownlow Medal ceremony.

She put on an eye-popping display in a garish fluorescent dress cut with a very daring slit slashed across the chest.

She flashed a generous glimpse of leg through an equally risqué thigh-high split, topped with an elaborate frill more suitable for a 2010 school formal than the 2020 AFL Medal Count.

But Arabella wasn’t the only person who raised eyebrows with an unfortunate wardrobe mishap on Cup Day.

MTV presenter Kate Peck seemed to have taken style tips from Lady Gaga, slipping her slender physique into an avant garde corseted midi-dress with cut-outs above both breasts and a mesh veil covering her entire face at a photocall for the GH Mumm event at Pier One in Sydney.

Meanwhile, In November, Australian singer Jessica Mauboy turned heads for the wrong reasons when she attended the ARIA Awards.

Jessica appeared to miss the mark in a leopard print frock decorated with drooping butterflies – but she may have been paying tribute to her hit ‘Butterfly’ with the unusual design.

Other stars who missed the mark included Amy Shark, who wore a bland blue minidress, singer and songwriter Montaigne, who wore a tutu-like fluorescent yellow two-piece, and comedian Joel Creasey, who appeared to have drew inspiration from Joe Exotic.

Joel wore a bright green and black tiger print shirt and matching trousers, with glittery boots.

Eye-popping: Unfortunately for Jessica Mauboy, she didn't just suffer a frock fail at the ARIA Awards this year. In December, she showed off her eye-popping cleavage in a dangerously low-cut bodycon dress

Unfortunately for Jessica Mauboy, she didn’t just suffer a frock fail at the ARIA Awards this year.

In December, she showed off her eye-popping cleavage in a dangerously low-cut bodycon dress.

But rather than the frock accentuating her curves for the right reasons, it looked a little ill-fitting.

The dress, from the brand Ellery, highlighted her trim midriff as she posed with her hands on her hips.
