Harry Styles is said to be ‘blameless’ as he was told his new girlfriend Olivia Wilde was single before they started dating, amid speculation that the actress argued with her ex Jason Sudeikis over an alleged relationship cross-over.
Earlier this week, insiders told MailOnline that the screen star, 36, and the comedian, 45, split months before the filmmaker and the One Direction star, 26, who went public at his agent’s wedding earlier this month, formed a romance.
But sources have now claimed the origins of their bond is reportedly being perceived as a ‘bit of a mess’ among their inner circle, with one telling us: ‘Harry probably wasn’t aware that they broke up in November 2020.’

They told The Sun: ‘This looked very Hollywood at first, but it’s a bit of a mess and what actually went on looks very different, depending who you ask.
‘It is understood that Olivia told Harry she was already single when they met, and those close to the situation say he is blameless, despite the controversy around the new couple.’
The new claims emerged after a separate insider insisted that the musician and the filmmaker, who co-parents Otis, six, and Daisy, four, with producer Jason, exchanged flirty texts while he shot scenes on the new film she is directing late last year.
But a source told MailOnline their romance came as ‘no surprise’, stating: ‘Jason and Olivia had been broken up for almost a year and her moving on from the relationship was no surprise.’

Musician Harry was announced as a cast member in Olivia’s psychological thriller, Don’t Worry Darling, in September, and filming for the movie kicked off a month later.
Olivia’s new beau will step into the leading role of Jack, who hides a dark secret from his wife Alice (Florence Pugh).
The hunk took over Shia LaBeouf’s role as Florence’s love interest, and the film is his first screen role since the 2017 movie Dunkirk.
A separate insider claimed Saturday Night Live star Jason is hoping to reunite with the mother of his children.

They told People: ‘There is still a lot of love there, and he would like to have hope that maybe there’s a way for them to repair things. But what happens next remains to be seen.’
Another said to US Weekly: ‘Jason’s had no option but to step back and let Olivia do her thing, but he [has his fingers crossed] that this is just a phase and that Olivia will snap out of it or that Harry will get bored and move on before too long.’
According to the publication, Watermelon Sugar hitmaker Harry was drawn to Olivia’s ‘intelligence and independent nature’ as they grew fond of each other.

The happy photos came amid claims James Corden helped keep close friend Harry and Olivia’s ‘romance a secret’ after allowing the artist to stay in his home while filming Don’t Worry Darling in Palm Springs, California.
A source told Page Six: ‘This relationship between Harry and Olivia is very new. Olivia has been directing Harry in the movie in Palm Springs, and there were literally 10 people on the set, because they were strictly adhering to COVID rules.
‘Harry had been staying at James Corden’s house near Palm Springs during filming, and so they were able to be alone and keep their relationship very secret.
‘So everyone was really surprised — and rather delighted — when Harry brought Olivia as his date to the wedding, and introduced her as his girlfriend.’

The source added that Harry doesn’t give a ‘f**k* about the 10-year age gap and was ‘openly holding hands and kissing Olivia’. Olivia, Harry and James’ representatives were contacted for comment at the time.
The pop star previously dated the likes of Victoria’s Secret star Camille Rowe and supermodel Kendall Jenner, while the Alpha Dog actress was married to Italian photographer Tao Ruspoli from 2003-2011.
Olivia was trolled by Harry fanatics earlier this week, with some of his followers claiming she ‘stole’ him from them, while others defended their romance and branded the hate ’embarrassing’.
