Neymar has unleashed an emotional rant on social media claiming he is ‘constantly assaulted’ on the pitch after being ruled out for a month through injury.

The Brazilian picked up a groin strain after a challenge during PSG’s 1-0 win over Caen on Wednesday – the latest of his string of fitness issues in the French capital.

He has been vocal in his belief that opposition players are too aggressive against him, and took to Instagram to vent his fury following news he will miss a reunion against ex-club Barcelona in the Champions League.

In a lengthy post, Neymar said he was ‘uncomfortable’ on the pitch due to fear of being injured and spoke of his ‘sadness’ about his situation.

‘The sadness is great, the pain is immense and the crying is constant,’ he said.

‘Once again I will stop doing what I love most in life for a while, which is playing football.

‘Sometimes I feel uncomfortable due to my style of play, because I dribble and end up getting assaulted constantly.

‘I don’t know if the problem is me or what I do on the field … it really saddens me.

‘It makes me so sad to have to hear from a player, coach, commentator or the f****** No.4 (Caen player) ‘he really has to be beaten’ ‘falls down’ ‘crying kid’ ‘spoiled’ and etc …

‘Honestly it saddens me and I don’t know how long I can take it, I just want to be happy playing football. THAT’S IT.’

Criticism from Caen manager Pascal Dupraz angered Neymar’s father, who hit back on Instagram.

Neymar Sr wrote: ‘Really, my son has to cry, but not for the reason you think, sir.

‘I think he has to cry because there are coaches like you, referees of that level, negligent leagues, biased referees and cowards in the sport. Yes, he has to cry… But through our crying and his, my son’s, the athlete’s, the magic of football will last another night and after that he will rise up, as always, to win again.’

Neymar has been forced to watch from the sidelines a number of times since his £198million world-record move to PSG in 2017.

He has missed around a month of action already this term and was ruled out for a few months of last season due to a problem with his ankle.

Still regarded as one of the world’s greatest talents, Neymar often dazzles with his skill on the ball but is regularly accused of showboating – as well as overreacting when he is fouled.

While Neymar is set to miss the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie against Barcelona, he could be fit to return for the second leg.

He has been linked with a return to the Nou Camp in recent years, and looked nailed on to move back to Spain last season after growing frustrated with his spell at PSG.

But the 29-year-old has since turned a corner and has admitted he is ‘very happy’ in Paris. He is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal with the club in the coming weeks, with his contract expiring next summer.
