Jessica Mauboy reveals she felt ‘really lonely’ while taking a break from performing due to the pandemic and is ‘shaking’ over new shows
Jessica Mauboy has revealed the toll of the COVID-19 pandemic on her career.
The singer, 31, says she has been ‘lonely’ while unable to perform to a crowd, and expressed her excitement at returning to the stage.
‘I do better when I’m around people. When I’m by myself, it gets really, really lonely, and way too quiet,’ she told The Australian on Saturday.

The Little Things singer will open the Adelaide Festival on Saturday evening, and simply cannot wait.
‘I’m really excited, to the point where my knees are shaking,’ she said. ‘But there’s also a sense of really warm spirit, because this is what I love doing,’ she added.
‘I know that I’m a much better person when I’m on the stage, and I’m singing to faces who are singing the lyrics back to me. That’s my sweet spot.’

The We Got Love hitmaker is also part of The Voice Australia’s brand new line-up of coaches.
She will join Rita Ora, Keith Urban and Guy Sebastian for the reality series, which is set to air on Channel Seven for the first time in 2021.

Jessica became engaged to fiancé Themeli Magripilis last October.
Her long-term boyfriend popped the question during a romantic trip to Greece. They were due to tie the knot in 2020.
In August, she announced the lovebirds were forced to postpone their nuptials due the global virus outbreak and its flow-on travel restrictions.
