The looming threat of nuclear war does not seem to be affecting these North Korean citizens after they were pictured taking a tour on a passenger boat this weekend.
A newly married North Korean man was photographed with his arm around his wife, pointing into the distance as the boat sails down the Yalu River, along the China-North Korea border river during a national holiday for the hermit state.
Young children are seen by the feet of the happy couple as it heads along the river in the Liaoning province, in China’s northeast.
A group of casually young men are pictured standing and sitting on the front of the boat as it speeds along the river, while more smartly dressed men and women stand behind the bride and groom.
A smaller boat pulled up alongside the passenger boat, with a few of the men try to catch the attention of those on the larger vessel.
People onboard the ship are seen taking pictures or videos on their mobile phones in what could be just another piece of choreographed propaganda by the communist state.
A man in what appears to be military uniform is also seen sitting down on the boat with his legs danging over the edge while others wave from the boat.
The North Korean flag flies proudly on the passenger boat as it cuts down the smoggy river along the Chinese border. Large skyscrappers are barely visible through the thick smog but a faint outline can just about be seen.
It comes as the United States has called for another vote on Monday for a UN resolution which would impose the toughest sanctions yet against North Korea – which could spark tensions with the country’s biggest trading partner China and its neighbour Russia.
