Chet Hanks found himself the butt of jokes after he declared on Friday that the upcoming summer of 2021 was going to be ‘white boy summer.’
The 30-year-old rapper and son of Tom Hanks instantly became the main character on Twitter as some people poked fun at his statement while others accused him of racism.
‘I just got this feeling, man, that this summer, it’s about to be a white boy summer,’ he said blankly.

‘Take it how you want,’ he continued. ‘I’m not talking about Trump, Nascar-type white boy summer, I’m talking about me, Jon B, Jack Harlow–type white boy summer. You know what I mean? Let me know if you guys can vibe with that.’
He added in his caption: ‘Is it bout to be a #WhiteboySummer or am I trippin ???? Tag a REAL vanilla king #Respectfully.’
Some Twitter users were quick to point out that ‘white boy summer’ wasn’t exactly a new idea.
‘Someone tell Chet Hanks that we’re already several thousand years into a white boy summer,’ one user wrote.

Chet is no stranger to racially insensitive posts, though he tends to elicit plenty of laughs along with pans.
Back in November, the white rapper was blasted on social media after he used an approximation of a Jamaican patois in an anti-Trump rant leading up to the presidential election.
Earlier in the fall, he was laughed at online after he posted a video hitting on Adele, who had recently shared a photo of herself in a Jamaican-flag bikini, which some people described as cultural appropriation.
Pattern: Chet previously stoked controversy in November when he used a fake Jamaican patois to bash Donald Trump
