INXS reveal how they are honouring their manager Chris Murphy’s final wish for the band – after his death in January at age 66
INXS manager Chris Murphy died aged 66 after a short battle with cancer in January.
And Friday, band member Kirk Pengilly, 62, revealed how the band are honouring one of his final wishes for them.
INXS’ music now features on the app Vidiyo, which allows users to create their own music videos.

‘This was one of Chris Murphy’s visions before he passed away and hopefully it puts our music in front of a younger audience,’ Kirk told The Daily Telegraph.
He added: ‘Apart from Diana Ross I think we’re the second oldest artist on there.
‘I don’t think we realised when New Sensation was recorded, that 35 years later you’d still hear it on the radio and have it included on an app with today’s pop stars, it’s pretty astounding.’

Legendary music manager, Chris Murph, who helped steer INXS to global success, was surrounded by family when he died at home in Ballina, northern NSW, in January.
‘It is with great sadness that the remaining members of INXS mourn the passing of our brother, Chris Murphy,’ band members Tim, Jon and Andrew Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Garry Beers said in a statement.
‘Without Chris’s vision, passion and hard work, the INXS story would be totally different.’

Over a career spanning 40 years, the talented manager made a huge impact on the global music and entertainment industry, also becoming a record-label owner and TV producer.
He pioneered a contract called the ‘door deal’ which gives more earnings to artists by guaranteeing them a percentage of the cover charge.
Murphy took on INXS as manager from 1979 to 1995, and again in the 2000s, guiding the famous band to international stardom in their early break-through years.
