Sydney had a generous taste of summer on Wednesday with beachgoers made the most of the hot weather. 

The city sweltered through the hottest September day in three years as the heatwave spread across Australia.

With temperatures soaring past 32 degrees, hundreds of sunseekers donned skimpy swimsuits to lap up the sunshine.
