Elderly pedestrian, 73, dies after cyclist crash

An elderly woman has died after sustaining head injuries in a crash with a cyclist in London.

The 73-year-old was rushed to hospital after the collision on Tuesday but could not recover from her wounds.

Police confirmed the cyclist stopped at the scene in Oxford Street and that  no arrests have been made.

Next of kin have been informed.

Officers have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

The Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command team is leading the probe and wants to speak to anyone in the area at 4.30pm on Tuesday.

They are also appealing for anyone with video footage of the incident to get in touch.
