  • His list of ‘rules’ also includes no half-and-half pizzas and only Italian toppings
  • ‘You wouldn’t find ham and pineapple pizzas over in Italy,’ Rocco said

A restaurant owner previously known as the ‘Pizza Nazi’ has shared some very specific rules for his pizzeria in Adelaide.

Rocco DeAngelis owns RoccoPizza, a traditional Italian pizza parlor that refuses to sell ham and pineapple pizzas.

Rocco’s displeasure at what many consider an Australian delicacy quickly earned him the nickname ‘Pizza Nazi’.

Speaking to The Adelaide Advertiser, Rocco said the list of rules for his previous Sydney-based restaurant went viral after he grew tired of people ordering the mixed pizza.

‘When we opened this place in Sydney, we only did it to true Italian standards, so we didn’t have ham and pineapple, didn’t do half-and-half and didn’t do changes,’ he told the publication.

He said people kept coming into the shop and ordering ham and pineapple pizza, half-and-half pizzas and wanted orders delivered.

Rocco’s Rules

No ham and pineapple

No half and half

No changes

No overpriced pizzas

Nothing processed

No freezers, no fryers

Only true overnight sourdough

Only Italian toppings

Only baked on stone

No cash

No corkage

‘I ripped down the specials board where we had some specials and I wrote ‘The Rules’ and just started free-flowing from my brain,’ he said.

Rocco also explained ‘you can’t get ham and pineapple pizzas over in Italy’.

‘You find some crazy guy trying to be different, but no you don’t get that here and personally I don’t eat sweet and meat because it doesn’t go on a personal level,’ he said.

‘It’s also processed food, and I won’t have cooked ham because it’s full of salt and full of fat and pineapple comes right out of a can.’

Rocco’s other rules include no changes to set pizza menu items, such as margherita or chicken and mushroom.

Diners are also informed there will be no cash, nothing processed on the pizza and only Italian toppings are used.
