- Spears claimed he dumped the dog because his sister couldn’t control her
A man in Texas has been caught on video abandoning a dog and is facing animal cruelty charges.
The footage from August 4th shows the heart-breaking moment when Gorge Spears parks up on to the side of a road, pulls the dog out the car with a rope, abandons the dog there and then drives off.
The 62-year-old was captured on surveillance cameras installed by the Dallas Marshal’s Office near Teagarden Road at Dowdy Ferry Road. The cameras were put in place to capture people in the area as it is a concerning location for abandoning animals.

According to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Texas’ Facebook post, Spears claimed his reason for dumping the dog was because his sister was unable to control her.
The SPCA of Texas said the dog was a one year old female of mixed breed who was found the following day and picked up by Dallas Animal Services on August 6th.
The dog has now been named Claira-Belle and was adopted out on September 9th after being transferred to the SPCA.

Maura Davies, vice president of communications for SPCA of Texas said: ‘It broke our hearts to see what happened to sweet little Claira-Belle,’ according to Chron.
‘She has found a new and loving home where she can live out the rest of her life.
‘It is so important for people to report suspected animal cruelty. It’s so helpful to have people contact us directly.’
After a warrant was issued for his arrests, Spears turned himself in to the police on September 11th.
