Raiders star Marshawn Lynch fined $12K for flipping bird

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch was slapped with a $12,000 fine by the NFL for simultaneously making a pair of obscene hand gestures at the Tennessee Titans defense during Sunday’s game in Nashville.

The fine wasn’t announced, but a league source confirmed the penalty. Cameras caught Lynch saluting the Titans defense with a pair of middle fingers in the fourth quarter of Oakland’s season-opening win.

Lynch did not seem concerned with the fine, writing on Twitter: ’12k ain’t nothin to a G.’

Lynch was actually playing in his first game since 2015, when he retired as a member of the Seattle Seahawks before ultimately returning to the NFL with his hometown Raiders this season. He finished Sunday’s game with a respectable 76 rushing yards on 18 carries in the 26-16 victory.

The Cal-Berkeley product has a history of using the middle finger during games.

In 2013, he flashed the bird at Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell from the backfield after Bevell opted to pass the ball from the one-yard line rather than hand the ball off to the bruising Lynch.

Lynch was also caught giving the middle finger during Super Bowl XLVIII, although it’s not entirely clear who his intended target was.

In 2014, Lynch’s abhorrence of the NFL media earned him $100,000 in fines.

‘Marshawn Lynch has been fined $50,000 for violating the NFL Media Policy,’ read the NFL’s press release. ‘In addition, the league will collect the $50,000 fine that was imposed following violations of the media policy during the 2013 season but held in abeyance in anticipation of future cooperation.’

Lynch appeared to take the hint soon after. He began talking to reporters, as all NFL players are required to do, but he answered most questions with ‘I’m just here so I won’t get fined.’

However, Lynch isn’t completely camera shy.

The mercurial star will soon be the subject of a reality show that can be seen on Facebook.

The social media site is paying Time Warner Inc’s Bleacher Report millions of dollars for a reality show on Lynch, the sports site told Reuters.

The show, called ‘No Script,’ will start streaming this month and consists of eight 10- to 15-minute episodes featuring Lynch’s various antics.
