The officials were clearly struggling to contain the stubborn elk as it ran away from them and stuck its head through the window of a parked 4×4.

It clearly did not wish to be recaptured, breaking out of a police cordon before finally being brought under control.

The creature was eventually found in a nearby lake, where local media claimed it was trying to make the most of the autumn sun.

It is not clear where the wild animal came from, but it was returned to safety by officials.

Elks can often be stubborn creatures. One was recently filmed boldly standing in the middle of the road in the Rocky Mountain National Park, U.S.A, despite being approached by motorists.
