Single mum with a full-time job reveals why she’s refusing to homeschool her three kids during lockdown

A single mum has revealed why she made the decision to send her three kids to school in the midst of a Covid-19 lockdown.
Liliana*, from Sydney, has refused to homeschool her children – aged 12, 10 and six – because she recently started working in a ‘very demanding’ full-time job.
Millions of Sydneysiders are currently in a lockdown amid the state’s coronavirus crisis, with Greater Sydney, Wollongong, Blue Mountains and Central Coast subjected to stay-at-home orders since June 26.
After the first lockdown happened last year, the frazzled mum said she tried homeschooling but she ended up sending her kids back to school after one week.

‘I turned out to be a horrible teacher… I felt very anxious all the time, drank way too much alcohol and overate,’ she told Kidspot.
As a young family-of-four living off one income, she said she just couldn’t cope with her kids ‘fighting, screaming and jumping up and down with boredom’ all throughout the day.
And while she’s working from home, Liliana said she now has an extra three hours a day to spend with her kids because she no longer has to commute.
The working mum said she starts every morning with an early exercise and she prepares breakfast for the family before her kids wake up.

She gets her children ready for school before she starts her job at 10am.
‘I then attend to all my working tasks with no distractions and extra motivation as I don’t need to physically rush anywhere,’ she said.
After picking her kids up at 5pm from after school care, she gets started on dinner.
Once her children are asleep, she returns to her computer to do a couple more hours of work.
The mum said the family’s set up has worked ‘fantastically’ as her children enjoys going to school while she can work from home in peace.
‘For me, it is my sleep, diet, exercise and the relationship with my children – as well as my job. I could not achieve this by having all three of them at home with me 24/7 while trying to work,’ she added.
