Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley wears rollers on set of The Marsh King’s Daughter as she gets ready to transform into lead role for filming

She’s been filming for upcoming film The Marsh King’s Daughter in Canada since June.

And leading lady Daisy Ridley, 29, cut a casual figure behind the scenes on set on Friday as she was spotted with her hair clipped in rolls ready for her to transform into her character Helena. 

The British-born star, who portrayed the character Rey in the popular Star Wars sequel trilogy, wore a grey vest top and a pair of blue denim jeans as she carried clothes on coat hangers in her hand.

The star had a grey hoodie tied around her waist and could be seen with a perspex face mask with her name etched on it around her neck. 

Daisy balanced a bowl of food on her arm ahead of lunch and carried a bottle of water and can of drink in her hand.

She followed the local advice to wear a face covering while out and about in a bid to protect herself and others amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Daisy is among the cast that also includes Garrett Hedlund, Ben Mendelsohn, Brooklynn Prince, Caren Pistorius, and Gil Birmingham. 

Ridley plays the role of Helena, a woman living a seemingly ordinary life, who’s hiding the dark secret that her father is actually the infamous Marsh King.

It turns out the Marsh King is the man who kept Helena and her mother captive in the wilderness for years.

After spending her entire life trying to avoid her past, Helena is forced to face her demons when her father escapes from prison, according to Deadline. 

Directed by Neil Burger, who’s best known for helming such films as The Illusionist (2006), Limitless (2011), and Divergent (2014), the screenplay by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith is based on a novel of the same name by Karen Dionne.

Daisy’s most recent role was the lead in the dystopian action film, Chaos Walking, which premiered in the U.S in early March. It also starred Tom Holland, Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas and David Oyelowo.

While she’s best known for her role of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), Daisy’s resume also includes Murder On The Orient Express (2017) and Ophelia (2018).
