Jude Bellingham was filmed handing his Borussia Dortmund shirt to a fan in the crowd and hailed the supporters as ‘the reason we play’, after defeat by Bayern Munich.
The young Englishman featured for his side against their rivals in the German Super Cup in a 3-1 defeat on Tuesday night.
After the game, footage emerged of a downcast-looking Bellingham approaching some fans in the stadium.

Despite Dortmund’s defeat, the gesture clearly meant a lot to those in the crowd
He handed the shirt to one man, who then gave it to his companion, who appeared to be a disabled supporter.
Dortmund tweeted the video on their official account and Bellingham wrote: ‘The reason we play. Wasn’t our day but many more games to come.’
The fans looked overjoyed with Bellingham’s gesture despite the result.
The 18-year-old former Birmingham starlet started the game but was later substituted with Dortmund struggling.

Two Robert Lewandowski goals sandwiched either side of a Thomas Muller strike proved decisive with Marco Reus scoring for Dortmund.
No doubt better days lie ahead for Marco Rose’s men and Bellingham, who continues to impress despite his tender age.
He is looking to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho in elevating his game to the next level in Germany.
Bellingham improved his reputation with cameo appearances for England off the bench at the Euros this summer and will be looking to make further steps for his club this term.
