Tori Spelling seen bartering for dirty rug at yard sale

Despite her financial troubles, Tori Spelling was spotted bartering over a dirty rug at a neighborhood yard sale just minutes after spending $1,000 on a Target shopping spree.

The former 90210 actress was seen by the side of the road haggling over the price and payment of second-hand decor in Los Angeles, last Saturday.

Before the impromptu garage sale hunt, Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott did some early shopping and dropped more than $1,000 on Halloween, costumes, candy, toys and clothing at a nearby Target store.

An eyewitness exclusively told DailyMailTV that Spelling, who has been riddled with debt in recent months, that ‘within mere seconds she found something she couldn’t live without, a funky patterned rug.

‘She has a real obsession that no one is dealing with and Dean is obviously her enabler.’

Before the pit stop at the local garage sale, Spelling and her husband had purchased so many things at Target that he had to make several trips to their SUV, which was stuffed to the brim with the famed red and white bags.

The eyewitness said that after the couple passed some bright green ‘garage sale’ signs on their way home, McDermott pulled the car over and Spelling hopped out.

After negotiating a price for the rug, Spelling tried to hand the homeowner who was hosting the yard sale a credit card, but was told it was ‘cash only.’

Spelling wanted to use her credit card to pay for the rug and argued back to the woman that many flea market vendors have card scanners attached to their iPhones to accommodate her.

The source said: ‘In the end, Tori promised her she just lived a few blocks away and would come back the next day with cash if she would hold it for her.

‘Her spending is compulsive, it’s like she goes on a “high” when she’s rummaging through bins of stuff,’ said the source.

‘If you told someone that the daughter of a TV mogul worth $600 million was spotted bartering to buy a funky used rug at a yard sale they wouldn’t believe it!’

The garage sale outing was actually the second day of Spelling’s shopping spree, as she also visited Target the day before.

Tori’s shopping binge began last Friday, when she took her son Finn, 5, along for a late afternoon trip that set her credit card back more than $500.

‘I’m right here baby,’ she would call out to her wandering son as she focused her attention on the latest women’s fashions, piling dresses, shirts and skirts into her red cart before rushing over to the kids’ aisles.

‘Tori gets in a zone when she shops,’ said the eyewitness.

The source added: 'In the end, Tori promised her she just lived a few blocks away and would come back the next day with cash if she would hold it for her. Her spending is irrational and compulsive, it's like she goes on a "high" when she's rummaging through bins of stuff'

The 44-year old actress was shocked when her famous father Aaron Spelling left her and younger brother Randy, 38, a meager $800,000 each from his $600 million estate after his death at age 83 in 2006.

As the executor of his estate, Candy Spelling, 71, has stepped in to cover what she called ‘basic necessities’ for her daughter.

These expenses include her family’s $9,500 a month rental in Woodland Hills, private school for four of the five older children, Liam, 10, Stella, nine, Hattie, five, Finn, five, as well as medical insurance and food.

In March this year, it was revealed that McDermott, 50, had failed to pay over $100,000 in back alimony and child support to his first wife Mary Jo Eustace, 55, for their son Jack, 18.

DailyMail.com exclusively reported that McDermott told LA Superior court Judge Colin Leis he was unable to pay (despite a possible jail sentence) because he had ‘fallen on hard times.’

Just weeks after Spelling gave birth to the couple’s fifth child Beau in March, the IRS levied their bank accounts and drained one belonging to Jack that was linked to his father.

Spelling and her husband had allegedly failed to pay $707,487.30 in income tax for 2014.

It was during these ‘hard times’, that Spelling and her family took fancy week-long vacations to the Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California, and the Four Seasons Punta Mita, Mexico.

‘The McDermott’s had a five star summer that’s for sure. A week didn’t go by without a trip to Disneyland, the Great Wolf Lodge Resort, big parties or an elaborate inflatable water slide rented for their back yard,’ says the source.

That was the year they had a financial ‘windfall’ due to McDermott’s cheating scandal with Emily Goodhand, which led to Lifetime reality show True Tori.

Spelling also owes American Express $87,000, and $38,000 for credit card debt and fees, City National Bank $220,000, for the portion of a 2012 loan that they defaulted on last year.

In addition to McDermott’s own financial troubles, they have almost $1.2million worth of debt.

In 2014, Spelling revealed on True Tori that her hoarding condition was out of control.

At that time she admitted to having 127 storage vaults, costing $55 per unit and nearly $7,000 per month, of her stuff that was costing her what most people pay in mortgage.

The source added: ‘She has a serious problem but no one seems willing or able to help her, it’s shocking, and sad.’
