Martin Odegaard fires back at Spanish press following negative stories after signing for Arsenal on permanent move from Real Madrid as the Norwegian insists ‘almost everything that is being said is not true’

Martin Odegaard has slammed sections of the Spanish media for writing misleading stories about his time at Real Madrid following his £30million move to Arsenal.
Over six years after signing for Madrid when he had barely turned 16 years old, Odegaard severed ties with the club on Friday by sealing a permanent move to Arsenal following last season’s loan spell at the Emirates Stadium.
The Norway captain became Real’s youngest ever player in May 2015 when he came off the bench to replace Cristiano Ronaldo in a LaLiga game against Getafe and big things were expected of him.

But he leaves the club having made only 11 appearances for the first team and there was a sense of regret in the Spanish capital at the midfielder’s unfulfilled potential.
Newspaper Marca, which has close ties to Real and president Florentino Perez, penned a disparaging article about the 22-year-old following his £30 permanent switch to Arsenal, describing him as ‘an economic bonanza but a sporting failure’.
But Odegaard fired back at the Spanish media on Friday, hours after his move back to the Gunners had been officially confirmed.
In a post on Instagram, the Norwegian showed his gratitude to Real and said he “completed a dream” by moving to the Santiago Bernabeu and “got the opportunity to learn from the best in the world and my idols”.

But he went on to make only 11 appearances for the club and never fulfilled his true potential
But he then hit out at the media treatment of him.
‘These days a lot has been said about me and my motivations for leaving. I only want to say that almost everything that is being said is not true,’ he wrote.
‘It’s a real shame that the press say things that aren’t true, because many people sincerely think that’s how it is.
‘I have my reasons, I know what the truth is and what happened and that’s why I think this (leaving Madrid) is for the best.’
