A grandfather has been charged after allegedly selling drugs out of his retirement village unit.

The ex bus driver, Gary Halford, 62, was arrested after allegedly selling illegal drugs out of his Mountainview Retreat Retirement village home in Dural in Sydney’s north-west on Thursday. 

Police launched an investigation in June into Halford’s actions after CrimeStoppers allegedly received multiple tip-offs from residents at the home.

Halford was arrested on Thursday at around 12:45pm in Baulkham Hills after police allegedly found cannabis, a mobile phone and methylamphetamine in his Ford Falcon. 

Halford was taken to Castle Hill Police Station while detectives and the dog squad searched his unit.

Police seized 12g of cannabis, six lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) tabs, a baton and electronic devices which will all undergo further examination.

Halford faces several charges which include six counts of possessing a prohibited drug, supplying a prohibited drug, possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit and failing to comply with a public health order. 

Halford will appear at Parramatta Local Court on September 8 after being granted a strict conditional bail.
