Snow leopard cub makes his first public appearance at zoo 

  • Aibek, a baby snow leopard, made his public debut at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington, on Tuesday 
  • The furry cub is two and a half months old and has been living in a maternity den since his birth in June
  • He lives with his mother Helen, 12, but does not live with his father, Dhirin 
  • Over the next few weeks, Aibek and his mother can be seen by the public in the outdoor enclosure from noon to 3pm daily

A Seattle zoo has finally introduced one of its new big cat cubs to the public.

Aibek, a baby snow leopard, made his public debut at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington, on Tuesday.

The debut followed a weigh in conducted by the zoo.

Snow leopards are a vulnerable species and have a high risk of extinction. 

Thirty-five snow leopards have been born in captivity at the zoo since it began caring for the beast back in 1972.

Aibek and his mother can be seen by the public in the outdoor enclosure from noon to 3 p.m. daily, over the next few weeks.
