Box office hit Picture Perfect is being brought to the small screen and Adam Devine, who was a star in the original cast, will headline it.

On Tuesday the 37-year-old actor shared the news on Instagram.  The music-driven movie’s TV-spinoff will be available to stream on Peacock. 

The three feature films included an A-list lineup that counted Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick, and Brittany Snow in the cast.

With a post broadcast to his 2.3 million followers, the actor said, ‘BUMPER is BACK! Oh my. I’m a song and dance man once again! So excited to [breathe] life back into my boy Bump. Such a lil manic and I loved playing him!’ 

The star thanked producers Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman, Universal Television, and Peacock ‘for making this all possible.’ 

He added, ‘AND thank you to the insanely talented Megan Amram for steering the ship! Can’t wait!!!’

The announcement comes nearly five years after the last film was released. The first one came out in 2012.

According to Variety, the plot of the series takes place several years after the occurrences of the last film.  

Devine originally played Wilson’s character Fat Amy’s love interest, Bumper Allen. 

In the first comedy Bumper began as the lead of a Barden University a cappella group, The Treblemakers, before stepping away to become a backup singer for John Mayer.

The second film saw him return to the school to work as a security guard.

In the latest rendition he’ll move to Germany to rekindle his music career following the success of one of his songs in Berlin.

The Iowa-born entertainer will executive produce the series with Banks, who appeared in the three films as a commentator for the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella competition and directed 2015’s Pitch Perfect 2.

‘When we saw the opportunity to create a series for Pitch Perfect with Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman and Paul Brooks plus more earworm classics for super fans to enjoy, we jumped at it,’ Susan Rovner, who’s chairman of entertainment content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, told Variety.

‘And to top it off, we are so fortunate that Adam Devine is headlining the series and bringing fans the quirky, laugh-out-loud sensibility they loved in the film franchise.’

A release date for the series hasn’t been shared yet.
