Viewers upset when Corrie’s Will microwaves quiche in foil

On Tuesday, it was BBC’s Doctor Foster irking viewers with its kitchen continuity issues.

But Wednesday was the turn of Coronation Street over on ITV, as nasty character Will decided to throw caution to the wind and microwave a Quiche Lorraine still in its tin foil casing.

Deciding to woo Michelle with quiche, salad and drugged red wine, Will popped the savory treat into the microwave to ensure it was nice and warm for the object of his psychotic desires.

‘Surely it would explode!’ Viewers left upset when Coronation Street’s Will microwaves Michelle a Quiche Lorraine… still in it’s metallic foil casing

But viewers weren’t happy to see he’d risked blowing up the kitchen but keeping the tin around the snack – something that is generally not allowed when cooking in a microwave.

‘@itvcorrie Will just put a foil tin in the microwave with his quiche, how did it not explode? #Corrie,’ one person demanded to know on Twitter.

‘#Corrie quiche cooked in the microwave in a metal tray?’ came a second tweet, followed by another who posted: ‘Balls up corrie…quiche reheated in a tin foil tray in the microwave….oh dear lol.’

‘@itvcorrie quiche in the microwave?! Foil and microwave do not mix!,’ advised another.

‘You’re not meant to put foil in a microwave. Anyone knows that!,’ typed someone else.

Followed by: ‘How did he just put that quiche in the microwave wave in its tin??? When I did that I nearly get fire to my flat!’

‘Dear @itvcorrie I hope that was the oven beeping cos foil in a microwave would go bang, it would have singed Will’s specs,’ someone else wrote.

Others were more concerned with the quality of the heated-up snack.

‘Typical Will. Don’t you know putting a quiche in the microwave leads to a soggy bottom!’ they wrote.

Similar outcries came from Doctor Foster viewers 24 hours earlier, as they watched Gemma whip up a meal for three in what seemed like 90 seconds – a meal that would have required her to boil pasta and cook chicken.

‘Most disturbing thing about last night’s Doctor Foster was dinner: raw broccoli, cold chicken from the fridge mixed into barely cooked pasta!’ someone wrote.

‘#DoctorFoster seen her take the raw chicken out the fridge, didn’t see that or the pasta get cooked,’ another despaired.

As well as this, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a continuity gaffe as well to do with the kitchen fridge.

Having returned home from a terse exchange between Simon and their teenage son Tom, after his violent run-in at school, Gemma opened the fridge, extracted her go-to bottle of chardonnay, and downed a glass of wine.

However, viewers were horrified when one shot showed Gemma leaving the fridge door wide open while she decanted the wine into a glass, and the next saw it was shut.

To rub salt into the wound of the nitpickers among them, after shooting off a text and spinning back around to the fridge, the door was once again shown to be open.

‘Spotted a fridge does which magically opens and closes by itself on Doctor Foster,’ came one tweet from an aspiring Miss Marple.

Another ranted: ‘#DoctorFoster driving me mad, nude shoes in one shot, black in the next. Fridge door open, then fridge door closed!!!’

‘Anyone notice the fridge mishap when Gem was on the wine? #DoctorFoster,’ a third person posted.

A fourth person cried: ‘Fridge door open, then closed, spot the mistake in the takes #DoctorFoster!’

Someone else could barely contain their disdain: ‘HOLD UP A MINUTE the fridge was open when she got wine, closed behind her when she looked at her phone then OPEN AGAIN #DoctorFoster!’
