Barnaby Joyce fronts new melanoma skin cancer campaign

If you don’t like watching politicians taking baths, don’t read on.

The Australian Nationals have released a skin cancer awareness campaign to encourage people to ‘leave their hat’ on this summer.

In an effort to curb alarming rates of melanoma in Australia MPs and Senators dance along to Randy Newman’s 1972 smash hit You Can Leave Your Hat On.

A video was uploaded to Facebook with the caption: ‘WARNING: This video contains content that some viewers may find disturbing.’

‘Unfortunately, Australia has one of the highest incidents of melanoma in the world with 40 Aussies diagnosed each day.

‘Many of our members, having grown up in the bush, or on the farm, have experienced melanoma first-hand and that’s why The Nationals are getting behind the Leave Your Hat On campaign.’

Barnaby Joyce, who underwent surgery to remove a melanoma, leads the campaign.

He had four spots removed from his face and neck last year.

‘You might think the hat looks a bit silly but I tell you when they start cutting bits of your body off, they cut your nose off and they cut your ears off to get rid of the cancers, that looks even sillier,’ Mr Joyce says in the video.
