The Kyle And Jackie O show has snubbed NSW’s new premier Dominic Perrottet in a series of ‘Freedom Day’ promotions featuring his predecessor Gladys Berejiklian.
Perrottet was sensationally banned from ever appearing on the KIIS FM breakfast show last week, after co-host Kyle Sandilands took umbrage with the politician’s religious views.
Since then, The Kyle And Jackie O Show has run at least two ‘Freedom Day’ segments, featuring sound-bites of former premier Berejiklian’s most memorable quotes.

However, a spokesperson for ARN told The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday that there was no nefarious reason why Berejkilian’s quotes were used instead of quotes from Mr Perrottet.
Rather, the radio station simply thought that Sydney residents would better associate Berejiklian’s quotes with the state’s lockdowns, ‘having heard the line almost daily, and the overall segment was a celebration of moving to the reopening.’
It comes days after Sandilands banned Perrottet from appearing on his popular breakfast talk show, just a day after being elected to the state’s top job.

Sandilands announced the controversial ban on Wednesday morning during a segment with celebrity psychic Georgina Walker after learning of Dominic Perrottet’s conservative religious views.
‘How can someone run a state like New South Wales and be anti-abortion and anti-gay rights,’ Sandilands said during a segment on Wednesday morning.
The 50-year-old became fired up when asking the celebrity psychic on how the new leader would fair in running the state. He then referred to him as ‘Slender Man’.

Ms Walker predicted the Premier would reform NSW ‘quite hard’ but would ruffle a few feathers due to his rigid conservative faith.
‘I think he’s going to be a good leader, but I do think he is going to ruffle a lot of feathers due to his strong religious belief centres…he’s not into gay marriage, he doesn’t believe in abortion…’ Ms Walker said.
‘Oh well he’s out in my books then,’ Sandilands replied.
Co-host Jackie-O agreed it was ‘gutting’ after Gladys Berejiklian stepped down, pointing out NSW residents didn’t even have a choice in the matter.
‘Honestly a person like that to replace Gladys, oh my god,’ she said.
But the final straw for Kyle was when Ms Walker mentioned Mr Perrottet believed priests should keep their confidence when it came to child abuse.
‘Oh this guy’s gotta go, he’s never allowed on the show guys just so you know,’ he said.
‘He’s not allowed, I don’t want that rubbish.’

The ban came as footage resurfaces from a religious liberty speech in 2020 showing Mr Perrottet defend the radio host.
Despite outcry from the Christian community, Mr Perrottet said he did not support the sacking of Sandilands over his offensive comments on the Virgin Mary.
‘Yes I found those comments tasteless vulgar and offensive,’ Mr Perrottet said, adding: ‘But he has the right to an opinion however vulgar and ill-informed it may be.’

A devout catholic, Mr Perrottet has opposed laws to force priests into disclosing child abuse arguing ‘the confessional seal is sacrosanct for every priest in every penitent no matter what sins are confessed’.
In 2019 the premier voted against decriminalising abortion warning supporters of the bill that they were on the ‘wrong side of history’.
The 39-year-old father of six, outlined his opposition to same-sex marriage in 2017 arguing ‘marriage is about every child’s fundamental right to grow up with their own mum and dad’.
