Queensland minister launches a scathing attack on NSW as state opens up the borders for Christmas
- Deputy premier Steven Miles labelled NSW as ‘reckless’ during press conference
- He boasted QLA was ran by a premier with a ‘measured and cautious’ approach
Queensland deputy premier Steven Miles has launched a scathing attack on NSW’s ‘reckless’ decisions as the state opens up the borders for Christmas.
Following Annastacia Palaszczuk’s announcement quarantine-free travel will be available between Queensland, NSW and Victoria by December 17, Mr Miles boasted his state was governed by a premier with a ‘measured, cautious and safe approach.’
‘One that is informed by the best health advice, which puts the safety and health of Queenslanders and our economic interests first,’ he said.
‘It’s based on the best advice and the best available modelling, not a series of reckless decisions as we have seen from New South Wales.
‘We will not give up on having a plan as the Prime Minister has, Queenslanders we can do this and we can do it with a plan.’

The Queensland border will open up in two stages with 70 per cent of the eligible population expected to be fully vaccinated on November 19.
On this date anyone who has been in a declared hotspot within the past 14 days can travel into Queensland as long as they are double vaxxed but must arrive by air only.
They will need to provide a negative Covid test in the past 72 hours and undertake home quarantine for 14 days.
Then once the 80 per cent vaccination target is hit on December 17, vaccinated travellers can arrive from interstate by road or air and will not have to home quarantine.
More to come.
