Two missing toddler brothers have been found safe after police launched a search for them after they were taken from hospital.

A face-tattooed man and his 35-year-old girlfriend were believed to have taken the one-year-old boy and his two-year-old brother from a Gold Coast hospital, police say.

The two young boys were found Saturday ‘safe and well’ in Tasmania, authorities said.

Tasmanian Police said no one has been charged at this stage and Queensland Police will continue to investigate.

Police issued an appeal to the public to find the toddlers after a man with a face tattoo and his girlfriend left Gold Coast University Hospital with the boys around 3.30pm on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old man had the word ‘family’ inked under his eye along with a skull tattooed under his other eye and the words ‘Franceska’, ‘Misty’ and ‘Respect’ plastered on his forehead.

Police said the two young boys are known to the man and woman, but concerns were held for the toddlers’ well-being, especially the one-year-old who needed medical care.
