Halloween tragedy as a boatie drowns and three more are rushed to hospital after being brought back to life on the beach when their vessel capsized

  • Seven people on board were pulled to safety by life savers and marine command 
  • CPR was performed on four people until paramedics arrived, but one died
  • Three others were taken to hospital, but their conditions are not known 


One person has drowned in a Halloween boating accident that saw six others pulled from the water.

Emergency services were called to Waniora Point in Bulli, off the coast of Wollongong, about 10.20am on Sunday after a vessel capsized.

Seven people on board were pulled to safety by Surf Life Savers and the Marine Area Command and taken to shore.

CPR was performed on four people until paramedics arrived, but one person could not be revived.

The other three were taken to hospital but their conditions are not known. 

Police are conducting inquiries.
