Steve Coogan was back at work on Tuesday as he prepared for his latest scenes as Jimmy Saville in a new BBC drama about the disgraced presenter’s rise to fame and posthumous notoriety as a predatory sex offender.
The actor, best known for his role as hapless TV broadcaster Alan Partridge, will play Saville in forthcoming series The Reckoning, a biopic focusing on his rags to riches celebrity, nefarious sexual activities and their lasting impact on his many victims.
Dressed in character as the ostentatious presenter, who died in 2011 before his crimes were exposed, Coogan wore a garish blue velvet blazer as he prepared to film scenes on location in Bolton.
