Sarah Jessica Parker films with Cynthia Nixon for And Just Like That in New York

Sarah Jessica Parker and her longtime costar Cynthia Nixon were back in fine form on Friday evening as they filmed a scene for their upcoming series And Just Like That.

Sarah, 56, and Cynthia, 55, were dressed to the nines while shooting an outdoor evening scene in New York City.

The two were shooting just days after DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones is still alive in the new series, leaving the door open for a possible season two return.

Sarah showed off Carrie Bradshaw’s impeccable style with a lovely lavender sweater dress that had an eye-catching cable knit skirt.

She added even more color to the look with a lustrous crushed velvet coat with purple, green and yellow stripes.

The 5ft3in star had a tiny black back slung over her shoulders that featured a large braided pink handle.

She completed her costume with charcoal suede lace-up heels, and she wore her her long blond locks down with a middle part.

Cynthia, who appears as Miranda Hobbes on the series, had on a green satin blouse and a lustrous mustard yellow trench coat.

She channeled the 1970s with a hypnotizing brown patterned skirt.

The former gubernatorial candidate carried a black clutch and gray open-toe platform heels.

Her character had embraced her age and her natural gray hair with a chic bob.

The two women also star with Kristin Davis as Charlotte York Goldenblatt in the Sex And The City continuation.

However, fans of the original series may be disappointed to find that the original quartet has shrunk to a trio after Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, opted not to reprise her role.

But DailyMail.com exclusively reported on Tuesday that the show’s writers haven’t killed off Samantha in the newest series, leaving the possibility that she could return in the future.

Production insiders, who say the show will be back for a second season, are hoping to talk Kim into returning to the series.

‘We’ll announce eventually that the show will have a second season. This isn’t a one off, this will be a series,’ they said. ‘It will be quite a while between the first and second series as Sarah Jessica Parker has a busy schedule and we have a lot of work to do to get Kim Cattrall back.’

They added: ‘We all miss Kim and we hope she comes back for the second season – the door will never close on her, she is an important part of the franchise.’

Sarah and Kim famously had a public falling out after the end of the original HBO series, which seems to have inspired the show’s explanation for Samantha’s absence.

‘Viewers will learn that Samantha and Carrie have fallen out over Carrie firing Samantha as her publicist and that they no longer talk. This effectively ends their personal relationship,’ one insider said.

Viewers will learn of their feud early in the first season, and Samantha’s absence will continue to be felt in later episodes as Carrie misses her pal.

Although fans will be glad to know that Samantha’s still alive and well, photos from set have led to speculation that Carrie’s husband Big may not be as lucky.

Fans worried he may have been killed off or separated from Carrie after she was seen on set kissing actor Jon Tenney.

It won’t take long for them to get an answer, as the first three episodes of And Just Like That are expected to be released at once when the series premieres in December.
