Cheryl has paid tribute to Sarah Harding on what would have been the late star’s 40th birthday.

The Fight For This Love hitmaker, 38, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a video featuring throwback clips from their Girls Aloud heyday.

Sarah passed away on September 5th aged 39 from breast cancer.

Captioning the emotional and heartwarming video, Cheryl penned: ‘Memories may be all we’re left with, but they’re enough to last a lifetime. #Sarahs40th.’ 

In the video, Cheryl is seen describing Sarah as her ‘own character’ and ‘kind of a crazy one’ who was ‘unique in her own world’. 

While bandmate Kimberly Walsh said Sarah was a ‘blonde bombshell’ who was running around the auditions like a mad woman’ as she fondly recalled their days on TV show Popstars: The Rivals, from which Girls Aloud were eventually formed.

Last month Cheryl stood back from performing commitments after being ‘hot hard’ by the death of her former Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah.

Since Sarah’s death, Cheryl had made no public appearance’s since, pulling out of a Birmingham Pride performance in September.

A source has since explained that Cheryl is ‘taking a little break to prioritise her wellbeing.’ 

Speaking to Closer magazine the source said: ‘The shock and devastation have hit her so hard.

‘She’s not in any mindset to think about performing so she’s taking a little break to prioritise her wellbeing.’ 

The source added: ‘Sarah’s death was announced by her mum on Instagram and Cheryl previously spoke of her grief as she paid tribute to her bandmate – who she had reconciled with in recent years.’
