Prince Harry attends Invictus Games without Meghan

It was a momentous occasion for Harry yesterday as he stepped out for his first official public appearance with girlfriend Meghan Markle.

And the royal, 33, looked as if he was still basking in the glow of the special outing today as he arrived for the Invictus Games cycling time trial at High Park in Toronto.

The royal was beaming as he posed for photos with medalists, including Canada’s Julie Marcotte who won gold in the Women’s Recumbent Bike.

He also doled out hugs and high fives to her fellow medalists, including Technical Sergeant Lara Mastel who endured 15 operations for stage 3 breast cancer and is thankfully now in remission.

Yesterday, Harry and Meghan surprised onlookers when they arrived hand-in-hand to watch the wheelchair tennis, putting on a tactile display throughout as they flirted and whispered to each other.

Within hours of the couple stepping out together bookies Ladbrokes suspended betting on an imminent announcement of an engagement.

And Meghan herself seemed to drop a hint, choosing to wear a white shirt named The Husband, designed by her friend Misha Nonoo whose former husband went to Eton with William and Harry.

It may have been a big moment for Meghan as she appeared publicly with her royal boyfriend for the first time, but the actress looked completely at ease and gave no hint of nerves.

Harry’s Invictus Games, which was first held in London in 2014 and this year is the biggest event yet with some 550 competitors from 17 nations taking part in 12 adaptive spots, such as swimming, athletics and tennis.

During the eight-day Games, Harry will visit training sessions and watch participants competing in all 12 sports, including athletics, cycling and wheelchair basketball.

The Invictus Games Toronto 2017 organising committee has funded a research study by Dalhousie University examining the importance of the role of adaptive sport in the rehabilitation of wounded, injured and sick military personnel and their families.

This has involved a comprehensive evaluation of the competitors competing in Toronto.

The high-profile closing ceremony on September 30 will feature performances by Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams and Kelly Clarkson.
