Kmart shopper transforms her old Christmas tree into a ‘magical’ display using a $5 product – and you can do it too
- A shopper has found a budget-friendly way to transform an old Christmas tree
- Rachel wanting a ‘different look’ this year for her 10-year-old tree
- As a cheap alternative she bought ‘snow spray’ to replicate the look of snow
- The white glaze over the green tree looked stunning once decorated
Rather than spending hundreds of dollars on a new Christmas tree, a clever shopper has restored the look of her 10-year-old tree with lick of ‘snow spray’ paint.
Rachel, from New South Wales, Australia, said she purchased the artificial tree a decade ago from Kmart but wanted ‘a different look’ this year without spending a fortune.
As a cheap alternative, she bought a can of snow spray to replicate the look of snow and add wintry touch.
The end result looked stunning and the white glaze over the green tree perfectly matched the silver and gold decorations.
The canned product was bought from Ronis Home Depot and would’ve cost no more than $5.

‘I purchased this Christmas tree from Kmart about 10 years ago. It’s still going strong but I wanted a different look this year without blowing the budget,’ Rachel wrote online.
‘Two cans of snow spray, some new Kmart Christmas decorations and it’s just like a new one.’
As she assembled the tree she sprayed each layer of bristles on the outdoor deck.
The budget-friendly idea added an uplifting, refreshing touch the old tree.
The tiny prosecco bottle decorations were purchased from Spotlight last year while the large flowers, gold hearts, glitter butterflies and gold star were all bought from Kmart.
‘Some [decorations] are from Target too and some are old decorations I already had,’ she said.

While hundreds praised the idea online, some were a bit concerned.
‘The lady at the Christmas shop strongly warned against it because it apparently ruins the tree..they sell $2k to $10k trees though,’ one woman wrote.
But Rachel didn’t seem too concerned about the condition of her tree.
‘At the end of the day my tree is 10 years old; After Christmas I will take the tree outside and hose it off,’ she said.
‘If any of the snow spray stays on, beautiful – if not I will just spray it again next year.’
