Killer who tortured teen posts torturous photo from prison

A killer who tortured and burned a teenager has caused further grief to his victim’s family after he posted a threatening image of himself on Facebook from prison.

Danny Wiltshire is serving a life sentence for stabbing Jordan Campbell, 17, after a New Yea’s Eve party before setting him on fire.

Mr Campbell’s devastated sister was left shaking with fury after she spotted the killer’s social media profile and saw he had shared a picture of himself brandishing his fists in a threatening pose.

Danny Wiltshire is serving a life sentence for the senseless murder of the 17-year-old at a New Year’s Eve party in 2015. He posted this picture (above) on Facebook from inside his cell

Sister Dannii Campbell said: ‘It’s appalling. They are murderers and allowed to be so free they can smuggle phones into prison.

‘After he laughed at us in court, I’m shaking with anger.

‘He’s dangerous and violent and by this picture isn’t reformed or remorseful at all.’

Jordan was found beaten and stabbed to death in a burning flat in Tickle Avenue, Parr, St Helens, after being attacked by his own cousin Ruben Hoather, then 22, Anthony Wood, 33, and Wiltshire, 26.

Wiltshire and Hoather handed themselves into police on the evening of January 1 and later admitted stabbing Jordan and attempting to burn his body when they realised he was dead.

Wiltshire, who befriended Hoather in jail during a previous prison sentence, admitted causing the fatal stab wound to Jordan’s back although he was found to have six other knife wounds.

In the hours after Jordan’s body was discovered Wiltshire and Hoather made calls to police, with Wiltshire bragging he had ‘a massive big butcher’s knife that I stabbed the kid with’ and boasting that there were ‘two murderers on the loose’.

He was reported to have giggled and said ‘I’m not arsed’ after being arrested.

High Court judge Mr Justice Timothy Kerr, who sentenced all three men, said at the time: ‘All three defendants were in it together.

‘They tortured and terrorised Jordan before they killed him. They dragged him from where he lay bleeding to death, dumped him on the floor and set fire to his body and head using torn clothing, attempting to burn the body and the flat to destroy evidence of the crime.’

Wiltshire was handed life with a 21-year minimum term, Hoather a 19-year minimum term and Wood a 21-year minimum term.

When asked how the picture of Wiltshire posing made her feel, Dannii added: ‘Sick, I still feel sick now. I rang my mum and sister to let them know before they see it.

‘The way he’s holding himself in the picture just angers me even more because I know to him it’s just another stretch in jail, a little longer than the one before. I can’t explain it, I’m shaking because I’m so upset and angry by it.’

The revelation comes shortly after the family of four-year-old Violet-Grace Youens, who was left dying by hit-and-run driver Aiden McAteer, found out he was posting messages online.

McAteer, 24, hit Violet-Grace and her nan, Angela French, at speeds of around 80mph in a stolen car before stepping over his victims to flee the scene.

Despite receiving a nine-year, four-month sentence for causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving, McAteer was able to post an image of a card handed to him by fellow inmates branding him ‘HMP Birthday Boy’ – and reassuring him ‘You can lock the locks but you can’t stop the clocks’.

The Ministry of Justice revealed that McAteer had had more time added to his sentence over his use of mobile phones which are illegal in prison.

Last week a passenger in the car, 27-year-old Dean Brennan, was also revealed to have posted a gloating selfie from prison on the social media site Snapchat – with the caption ‘prison life’.

He is serving a six years and eight months sentence for aggravated vehicle taking and assisting an offender, after helping McAteer flee to Amsterdam.

The MOJ has pledged to crack down on the use of phones in the UK’s prisons.

A prison service spokesman said: ‘We are clear that those who break the rules will be punished and can face extra time behind bars.

‘We are taking decisive action to find and block mobile phones in prison, including a £2m investment in detection wands and legislation to block phones from being in prisons.’
