A seven-year-old girl left fighting for her life after her ‘heart stopped beating’ has woken from a coma following a horrific car crash that killed her father.
Little Nirvarna Badman, from New Zealand, was left in a critical condition after she suffered fractured bones, a broken ankle, and two ruptured femurs.
She also lost vision in one eye and was left with an indentation in her skull.
But against all odds, the brave girl has since regained consciousness after she woke from an induced coma – as she faces a long road to recovery.

Her mother Nicole Badman said she was initially told by doctors to prepare for the worst as she was given just five minutes to see her daughter before her six-hour brain surgery

The girl was travelling with her father along a highway in Pareora, south of Timaru, when they were involved in a three-car pile up on September 2.
The 40-year-old father tragically died at the scene and six people were hospitalised, including his daughter, who was airlifted to hospital after going into cardiac arrest.
Her mother Nicole Badman said she was initially told by doctors to prepare for the worst as she was given just five minutes to see her daughter before her six-hour brain surgery.
‘I was met by all these doctors and police. They told me she might not live,’ she told NZ Herald.
But little Nirvarna defied the odds of survival after she was placed on life support.

Her mother took to social media to reveal her anguish after her daughter was placed in a coma
Despite her near-death experience, the mother said she feared her daughter’s legs ‘might not grow properly anymore’ after she sustained damaged growth plates at the knees.
‘I don’t know if she will ever be able to get back on her feet again or return to school. The future is uncertain for her at the moment,’ the mother-of-four said.
‘She is a fighter. I didn’t think that she would ever wake up but she did.’
The young girl – who missed her father’s funeral because she was in a coma – only learned about his death five days ago.
‘She is really upset about it and asking all these questions that I can’t answer because I don’t know myself,’ Ms Badman said.
Family and friends have set up a fundraising campaign, with more than $5,000 already raised for her medical expenses.
