Police arrested a man and sent in a bomb squad robot following a road-rage incident this afternoon on Merseyside.
Merseyside police arrested the 51-year-old suspect from the Derbyshire area on suspicion of possession of a firearm in West Kirby.
Officers at the scene expressed concern about a number items in his car and called in the bomb squad.

Residents later reported hearing ‘a loud bang’ in the area.
According to Merseyside Police: ‘Officers arrested the man outside an address on Leigh Road after a fellow motorist reported having been threatened by a man with a handgun on Victoria Road a few minutes earlier following a brief, verbal dispute.
‘The man was arrested and the car was searched, during which a suspected air weapon was seized. However due to concerns about a number of other items in his car, a cordon was put in place as a precaution whilst specialist search officers were called.’
Officers cleared the area and ordered residents to evacuate their homes as a precaution.
The bombs squad sent in a specialist robot to inspect the suspicious items.
Police said a number of nearby roads have been closed as a precaution while the scene is thoroughly examined.
