An emotional video has emerged of a couple listening to their deceased son’s heartbeat inside the chest of a nine-year-old girl. 

The footage, shot in Huntington Beach in California, USA, shows the parents using stethoscopes to hear the heartbeat in Tabitha Smith’s body.

As the mother listens to the heartbeat she is overcome with emotion.

‘So strong,’ she says to the girl. ‘You have a strong heart, don’t you.’

When the father listens he bursts into tears and hugs her.

‘This one works really good,’ he says.  

Tabitha Smith received Calvin Mossman’s heart in 2014 after she underwent three open heart surgeries during the previous years.

As the couple leave the room, a woman tells them they are welcome to listen to her heartbeat any time they want. 

Speaking after the meeting on June 9th earlier this year, Tabitha’s father said: ‘Calvin was able to help many people and the donor network means a lot to all of us.’
