  • Pushed for a final prediction, Benn went for Khan to win with a late stoppage

Conor Benn has now predicted Amir Khan will come out on top in the long-awaited grudge match with Kell Brook this weekend.

The British rivals are set to finally fight at a 149lb catchweight at the Manchester Arena on Saturday night.

And Benn, who is eyeing a potential clash against the winner, said he was swaying between who would win the ’50/50 fight’.

He told talkSPORT:  ‘I started off thinking Kell Brook was gonna win, and now I’m leaning more towards Amir Khan by late stoppage.

‘I believe Brook’s timing was what made him. His timing, his accuracy, his ability to finish off an opponent was one of the best in the game.

‘But has he got that? I think Khan will still have his hand speed, still have his work rate.

‘His chin vulnerability is always gonna be there, but I’m not sure if Brook now has the timing or finishing instinct to get Khan out of there if he does catch him and if he does have him hurt.’

Benn questioned whether Brook, 35, still has the ‘timing’, ‘accuracy’ and ‘focus’ to deal with the tenacious work rate of Khan, 35.

He added:  ‘I would’ve favoured Brook five or ten years ago.

‘I think having the timing takes quite a massive part of you – you’ve gotta be really on the ball, really focussed, really engaged in the fight.

‘I don’t know if Brook has that in him any more.

‘And I was leaning more towards Brook. It’s only been the last week or two where I’ve gone, ‘I think Khan could actually outwork him here, maybe stop him with a body shot.”

Pushed for a final prediction, Benn said: ‘Who’s gonna win it? Ah, if I had to put my house on it I’d probably go Khan.’
