Kyle Sandilands blasts ‘gronk’ Novak Djokovic over his vaccine refusal and says the tennis star is only taking a stand against mandates because he ‘knows he’s going to lose’
Kyle Sandilands has slammed unvaccinated tennis star Novak Djokovic, saying the world No. 1 is only refusing the Covid jab because he knows he has already reached the peak of his career.
The 20-time Grand Slam winner, 34, told the BBC this week he’s willing to miss major world tournaments because of his vaccine status – a stance which may well prevent him from being considered the greatest player of all time.
The outspoken radio host, 50, called Djokovic a ‘gronk’ and ‘dumb’ on Wednesday, and said his opposition to vaccine mandates was just his way of avoiding having to lose matches.

Sandilands said the Serbian ace was foolish for refusing the vaccine despite knowing this could mean giving up his top spot in the tennis world.
He then listened to a long excerpt from Djokovic’s BBC interview, in which the champion acknowledged he could risk missing the French Open and Wimbledon.
Djokovic, who doesn’t consider himself an anti-vaxxer, said he would do so because ‘the principles of decision making on my body are more important than any title’.

After listening to these remarks, Sandilands snorted: ‘Yeah, right.’
His co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson added diplomatically: ‘Well that’s quite the stance he’s taking,’
‘He’s just a c**k at the end of the day,’ Sandilands snapped, before comparing the Covid vaccine to a routine malaria shot needed to visit South Africa, which few travellers object to.

Sandilands then speculated that Djokovic knows he has hit his peak and is using the vaccine controversy to cement his legacy.
‘He probably knows he’s going lose [upcoming matches] and he now wants to go out in a shroud of “he could have been the greatest”.’
Djokovic was deported from Australia last month after questions were raised about his medical exemption and because the government feared his presence in the country would inflame anti-vax sentiment.
